BUMI Cares: Join Our Mission to Support Indonesian Farmers

As one of the founders of BUMI, I’ve had the privilege of working closely with our incredible network of Indonesian farmers. On average, these farmers, depending on the region and type of work earn very little for their hard work. By partnering directly with these farmers who produce our massage oils and other ingredients in our products, we aim to create a more sustainable and equitable agricultural ecosystem - where their efforts are recognised and better rewarded.
This is why at BUMI, we take great pride in the ingredient sourcing, oil blending for all our products making sure it is from a traditional farm in Indonesia. Read more about our commitment here. This quarter, we will be focusing our efforts on supporting sustainable agriculture. I mean we are called BUMI (means 'earth' or 'ground' in Indonesian language) after all.

Why We Need the Machine
Before that, what is this machine and why the farmers need it?
Our traditional farmers face numerous challenges. They don’t use insecticides or pesticides, adhering to natural farming methods that ensure the purity of our products. However, this commitment to natural farming comes with its own set of challenges. One significant hurdle is the labour-intensive process of making compost. Without a composting shredder machine, farmers have to cut down dead trees and plants by hand, which is incredibly time-consuming and physically demanding.
To have the composting shredder machine will hugely support this process. Acting as both a chopper and a cutter, the machine will break down organic matter much faster, significantly cutting down the time and effort required. This efficiency not only speeds up the composting process but also allow farmers to focus on other crucial aspects of their farming practices. Additionally, the machine can be shared with other surrounding traditional farms, amplifying its positive impact on the community.

The introduction of this machine will greatly impact the way our farmers work.
